The DCSO (Deutsche Cyber-Sicherheitsorganisation / German Cyber Security Organization) is a competence center and service provider for the cyber security needs of top German companies. We work with our IT security experts to provide clients with strategies, services, and technical solutions to protect the German economy against cybercrime, industrial espionage, and sabotage. DCSO was founded in 2015 by Allianz SE, BASF SE, Bayer AG, and Volkswagen AG as a shared project to improve cybersecurity in Germany and Europe.

This paid professional year position involves working in DCSO’s Threat Intelligence Research & Analysis team, which brings together technical and contextual expertise to provide key players in the German economy with insights into threat actors’ motives, targets, and attack behavior. Analyzing threat activity and conducting comprehensive research concerning threats ranging from cybercrime to nation-state activity, as well as providing contextual insights concerning policy and political developments, the TIRA team enables organizations to make proactive and informed decisions in the cybersecurity environment.

Your mission
- Actively participate in the team’s strategic threat intelligence work, ranging from the production of regular publications in our weekly situational reporting to customized reporting and long-term research projects.
- Bring your experience and expertise to driving the team’s research agenda, helping to proactively identify issues of interest and potential future research avenues.
- Take part in the broader aspects of DCSO’s work, including cooperation with other teams within the organization to gain exposure to a range of skill-sets, industries, and risk topics or projects involving DCSO’s broader sharing community.
- Conduct research and develop your competence in a geographic or subjectmatter field of interest of your choosing.
- Engage in service development as a fullyfledged member of the team, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
Your profile
- Available for a one-year full time contract (with flexible start date).
- MIA or MPP Professional Year Student (mid- way through their studies, not students that will be graduating in May).
- Policy and security analysis skills.
- Strong writing and research skills, with a demonstrated ability to succinctly communicate the complex interplay between political, economic and technological issues.
- Ability to plan and conduct research independently.
- Willingness to develop an understanding of the technical challenges facing our customers and to develop a deeper understanding of chosen technical topics.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively across multiple internal teams and stakeholders.
- Language skills (strong English required, German and other languages desirable).
- Any additional relevant professional or technological expertise e.g. Copy editing, design skills.
- A high degree of professionalism and discretion.
