ESG and Quality Manager (m/f/d) part-time (20 to 30 hours per week)

As a climate-friendly mode of transport, rail plays a key role in making Europe’s transport and energy transformation a reality. In our role as an asset manager of locomotives and regional trains, Northrail is a significant player in this process, which is so crucial to climate protection.

Northrail, headquartered in Hamburg, manages a fast-growing portfolio of currently around 430 locomotives, multiple unit trains and passenger coaches for freight and passenger transport in Europe with an investment volume of 1,5 billion euros. Northrail also develops innovative rail investments on behalf of, and in tandem with, international partners and institutional investors. The fleet managed by Northrail comprises state-of-the-art electric and hybrid locomotives, innovative battery-powered electric regional trains and traditional shunter and universal locomotives.

Northrail wants to establish CSRD reporting and strengthen its position as a sustainable company within the railway business. For our growing team of currently around 45 employees, we are looking for a part-time ESG and Quality Manager (m/f/d) as soon as possible. 

Your role with us:

  • Implementing and regularly updating ESG reporting/setting up CSRD reporting
  • Updating and developing our quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001 standards
  • Establishing an environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001
  • Conducting internal audits and preparing reports to ensure compliance with ESG and ISO 9001 standards
  • Preparing external audits and supporting during their execution
  • Monitoring and analysis of relevant ESG metrics, reporting to department heads
  • Interdepartmental collaboration with various teams

Our expectations of you:

  • Completion of a commercial/environmental/sustainable apprenticeship, degree or equivalent qualification
  • Relevant work experience (two to five years) in sustainability and quality management
  • Strong organisational skills and a structured approach to work
  • Experience in project planning, execution and delivery
  • Ability to analyse complex issues and interpret key metrics
  • Excellent communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a high level of initiative and commitment
  • Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
