Imaging Engineer / System Engineer (f/m/d)

We are looking for an experienced Image processing / computer vision engineer for our System Engineering Team here at Digital Endoscopy GmbH. We are the innovation hub for Pentax Medical, a globally operating manufacturer of medical endoscopic systems, and we are looking for an open-minded and innovative new colleague. Together, we'll encounter the challenges of improving the image quality of medical endoscopes. Our results can have a direct impact on patient care by avoiding or curing diseases such as cancer - globally.

You will play a vital role in defining, researching and developing the image processing for the future endoscopic systems of Pentax Medical. Your main task is to develop image processing algorithms and pipelines. Additionally, you will also be involved in testing complete endoscopic camera systems and prototypes. Hence, besides a basic understanding of camera systems, imaging sensor and optics, a certain hands-on mentality is needed, too.

As this position involves to create innovations for endoscopy, you will also be involved in carving out the future clinical needs via direct communication with medical professionals from all over the world.

Your Tasks

 

  • Develop, prototype and implement new algorithms for medical image processing
  • Work on all aspects of an image pipeline, from initial image denoising to high level image enhancement
  • Establish specifications and implementations of algorithms and pipelines in C++, Matlab and Python
  • Enhance and maintain existing image processing algorithms and pipelines
  • Testing, evaluation and validation of camera and image processing systems
  • Enhancing and expanding existing test setups for image systems
  • Documentation and presentation of your work to internal stakeholders

Your Profile

  • University degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science or related technical discipline, ideally with a PhD
  • Knowledge and practical experience in image processing or computer vision is required
  • Experience in algorithm development and implementation is required
  • Experience in image related industries, for example medical image processing, machine vision, robotics, automotive or space
  • Ideally work experience in the medical device industry or in another regulated environment, such as automotive or aerospace
  • Programming and IT skills
    • High expertise in C++
    • Good Matlab skills
    • Good Python skills are an asset
    • Gitlab / Github experience
    • Experience of Linux is required
    • GPU programming experience, for example CUDA or OpenGL, is an asset
    • Experience with embedded systems, FPGAs or resource limited systems is an asset
  • Abilities
    • Be able to work in a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural and multi-language team
    • Ability to work simultaneously in different projects
    • Cooperative way of working with high degree of independence and self-motivation
  • Language
    • Proficient English skills, both written and verbal
    • Good German language skills (B2) are an asset
