Our newly opened Innovation Center in Dortmund is dedicated to R&D, technical service, and marketing. Here, Daikin Chemical Europe is conducting research on new and sustainable technologies like electric mobility.

This position is for 6 months with the possibility to extend to one year.

Main responsibilities

As a Working Student in our R&D labs you will be supporting the team to deposit functional coatings on different types of substrates via wet-deposition processes and optimize the deposition process based on the coating performance.

This position is a great opportunity for students who would like to acquire practical expertise in process engineering as well as deep knowledge of OEM standards towards application of advanced functional coatings. You will be working on the following tasks:

  • Deposition of functional coatings via wet process
  • Evaluation and benchmarking of materials in order to produce reliable and precise data
  • Reading, understanding and performing OEM norms and standards to evaluate surfaces as well as coatings
  • Recording and interpreting results to present to scientists in the team
  • Organizing the laboratory equipment and tools, chemicals and other consumables to support day to day activities and assure that laboratory remains well organized and well stocked

Your Profile

  • Currently enrolled in a University at MSc level, studying chemical/process/mechanical/material/polymer engineering or related fields
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Knowledge of coating application methods and liquid deposition techniques as well as surface/coating properties is a plus
  • Ability to work well within a team orientated environment
  • Analytical way of thinking to correlate structure to performance properties and drawing conclusions from data
  • Ability to use technical equipment with accuracy
