Epitaxial High-Level Engineer (f/m/d)

Innolume GmbH is a leading provider of optoelectronic devices based on InGaAs/GaAs quantum-well and quantum-dot technologies, covering a wavelength range from 780 nm to 1350 nm. With our two MBE reactors, we support the epitaxial growth of In, Al, Ga, and AsP/GaAs heterostructures, ensuring flexibility and sustainability for both development and volume production.

As part of our continued growth, we are looking for an excellent Epitaxial High-Level Engineer (f/m/d) to join our team at our headquarters in Dortmund on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities

  • Support process stability, capability improvement, and production performance across multiple MBE systems.
  • Manage and analyze facility and process-related data to identify trends and optimization opportunities.
  • Develop new epitaxial growth processes and continuously improve existing manufacturing processes.
  • Plan and execute process development projects using Design of Experiments (DoE) methodologies.
  • Support equipment maintenance activities and coordinate with external service providers.
  • Assist Supply Chain Management in spare parts planning and qualification of new MBE precursor suppliers.
  • Perform chemical cleaning and maintenance activities on MBE wafer holders and related components.
  • Prepare engineering reports, process documentation, and production-related technical records.
  • Generate Engineering Change Requests, Issue Reports, and Permission for Deviation documentation.
  • Train and support production operators on assigned systems and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, environmental regulations,health and safety requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with Production, R&D, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, MBE or MOCVD growth, and equipment maintenance.
  • Extensive knowledge of epitaxial growth technologies, semiconductor materials, and MBE or MOCVD equipment.
  • Practical experience with wafer characterization techniques such as XRD, PL, Hall measurements, Ellipsometry, AFM, and SEM.
  • Familiarity with in-situ monitoring techniques such as RHEED, pyrometry, or band-edge measurement is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of safe handling procedures for chemicals, precursors, and maintenance materials.
  • Understanding of optoelectronic device technologies and semiconductor manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in statistical data analysis, FMEA, and database management.
  • Programming skills in Python, Delphi, or comparable programming languages are beneficial.
  • Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively under time-critical conditions.
  • Fluent English language skills are required.
