Your role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our team. This unique role combines the technical challenges of software engineering with the responsibilities of acting as a Deputy Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). You will be at the forefront of building and optimizing our technology stack while ensuring the security and privacy of our systems and data.
In this hybrid role, you will work on designing and developing scalable software solutions, taking ownerships of projects, writing production code from day one, implementing new technologies, and assisting in the strategic direction of our information security programs. This is an excellent opportunity for a well-rounded engineer with a passion for security, looking to take on leadership responsibilities in a dynamic and rapidly growing company.
Key Responsibilities:
Software Engineering:
Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable, and secure software applications to support our business operations.
Define development standards to be followed for all applications built at troy.
Shape the future platform roadmap to ensure scalability and robustness.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, operations, and customer service, to deliver innovative solutions that enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
Start as an Individual Contributor and gradually build a high-performance team.
Define and implement our enterprise API strategy, elevating our API management capabilities to a higher level of maturityFoster an API-first culture, promote the use of APIs as a primary means of integrating systems and services
Implement and integrate new technologies, tools, and frameworks to optimize system performance and drive innovation within the company.
Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards.
Conduct code reviews, provide technical mentorship to junior engineers, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
Deputy CISO Responsibilities:
Support the CISO in developing and implementing the company’s information security strategy, policies, and procedures to safeguard our systems, data, and customers.
Collaborate to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001). Support in maintaining current certifications.
Lead security initiatives and ensure that security is integrated into all stages of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Stay up to date with the latest security trends, threats, and best practices, and proactively recommend improvements to our security posture.
Required Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Security, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Senior Developer or similar role
A proactive, innovative mindset with a passion for staying at the forefront of technology and security trends.
5+ years of experience in software development with a focus on designing and building scalable applications.
Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java or Python.
Solid understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with databases (SQL and NoSQL), APIs, and microservices architecture.
Knowledge of secure coding practices, cryptography, and software security principles.
Familiarity with information security frameworks such as ISO 27001
Excellent knowledge of English and fluency in German would be a plus
Preferred Skills:
Experience in a leadership or mentorship role.
Knowledge of compliance regulations related to financial services or debt collection (e.g., GDPR).
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices.
Prior experience working in a fintech, financial services, or regulated industry is a plus.
