Our newly opened Innovation Center in Dortmund is dedicated to R&D, technical service, and marketing. Here, Daikin Chemical Europe is conducting research on new and sustainable technologies like energy storage, new mobility and industrial manufacturing.

Your responsibilities

  • Designing new synthesis routes and chemical modifications for thermoplastic polymers and conducting lab-scale experiments
  • Generating, collecting, analyzing, and interpreting complex experimental data to define future research directions
  • Performing intellectual property landscaping, competitive technology scouting, and trend monitoring
  • Driving product development initiatives using structured R&D processes, managing timelines, setting action plans, and monitoring project progress
  • Maintaining accurate, detailed records of research findings
  • Preparing and presenting performance reports

Your profile

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer Science, or a related discipline with a background in synthesis/organic chemistry of thermoplastics
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience within an industrial R&D or advanced laboratory setting, with a strong hands-on mentality
  • Experience in operating state-of-the-art analytical techniques and specialized laboratory instrumentation (ideally under high temperature or pressure environments)
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the capacity to interpret complex data independently
  • Business fluency in English with strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly present scientific data to diverse stakeholders
  • Highly self-motivated working style with a proven ability to perform independent laboratory work and systematically manage project deadlines
  • Thorough familiarity with EHS regulations in a chemical laboratory environment
