SENIOR SCALA ENGINEER for our RTP TEAM (M/F/X)

About your role in our RTP team

As a Scala developer you help us develop as well as maintain our streaming data platform based on Apache Kafka and TimescaleDB. Together with the team you will work on microservices written in Scala and utilizing the Akka stack of libraries as well as Kafka Streams.
Our team is small and our hierarchies are flat. You will therefore have a lot of say in decisions about the technology part of the platform and should be willing to take responsibility.
You should be curious about performance aspects of software and able to investigate and identify bottlenecks. Metrics are your best friend.

• Developing a cloud-based platform supporting financial risk management tools with low-latency market information.
• Developing a microservice architecture consisting of Java and Scala applications.
• Participate as a member of an international team.
• You work in an agile environment using an agile methodology.
• You participate in the team's continuous improvement process.
• You build it, you ship it.
• Youl take ownership of your work. You ensure high quality.

Your Profile

• Professional experience with Scala is a must. Also some familiarity with Java.
• Motivated team player. Someone who is eager to learn from others and share insights.
• Familiarity with distributed systems with knowledge about Kubernetes, Containers etc. AWS experience is a plus.
• Good understanding of functional programming concepts. Experience with a Scala functional stack like Typelevel/Cats or ZIO is a plus.
• Experience in working with agile methodologies in a cross-functional team: QA and DevOps are a mindset.
• Quality advocate: You understand that good code is tested code. Experience with TDD is beneficial.
• Automation advocate: We strive to automate where we can.
• You speak and write in English fluently and you are ready to work in a diverse international team.
• Strong passion for developing clean, well maintainable, documented, and testable code
• Team player with strong driver capabilities
