Job Objectives

For our Technical Center in our new European Headquarter in Düsseldorf we are looking for a:

Material Laboratory Technician (m/f/d)

As a member of the Technical Center (Research & Development, Application Engineers, Product Management and Quality), you will be involved in the daily work with our customers in the field of Engineering Plastics for applications in the automotive and electrical industry.

Your role in this team is planning, implementation and evaluation characterization of plastic properties in the field of Engineering Plastics according to various standards as a service for internal customers in the areas of development, product management, application engineering and quality management.

Your tasks

  • Perform material tests and measurements on engineering plastic materials
    • Executing of rheological investigations
    • Characterization of Mechanical properties, Thermal properties, Electrical properties, Flame-retardant properties and other measurements such as Density, Ash Content, Laser Transparency and other tests
  • Manufacture of samples and test specimen
    • Injection Molding: Production of standard test specimens on an injection molding machine for characterizing engineering plastic properties
  • Documentation, evaluation, and independent plausibility check of the analysis results
  • Creation of Technical Data Sheets and Test reports
  • Regular control, maintenance, and cleaning of laboratory equipment
  • Participation in the further development of measurement and analysis methods in order to actively shape work processes and to ensure maximum occupational safety
  • Creation of brief work instructions for the measuring devices
  • Participation in instructing other employees on the measuring devices
  • Continuing education in the field of measurement methods
  • Cooperation with the measuring instrument manufacturers

Your Profile

We offer a varied workplace that requires the following qualifications.

  • A technical education: Materials tester plastics technology, chemical laboratory technician, or similar technical qualification/training occupation
  • Or you can provide proof of many years of experience in the field characterization of plastic properties
  • High willingness to learn
  • Good technical understanding
  • Good English and German language skills
  • Independent planning, coordination, and documentation of the assigned tasks
  • Independent work according to existing guidelines
  • Communicative and team oriented
