Research Engineer | NLP Engineer (m/f/x/d)

We are currently looking for a Research Engineer | NLP Engineer (m/f/x/d) for our Research team in Valencia (Spain). In this position, you will play a key role in the team and will have the opportunity to participate in innovative projects in different NLP areas: opinion mining, low-resource NLP, generative information extraction, author profiling, relation extraction, etc.

Your work will attempt to improve the company's products and be aligned to customers’ needs. However, at Symanto we will also encourage you to explore new research ideas and to publish in blogs, forums, reputable research conferences and journals.?

• Implementing machine and deep learning-based NLP and Artificial Intelligence (AI) workflows and algorithms in alignment with the business needs.
• Deliver scalable and maintainable solution using the latest cutting-edge technology.
• Work on the integration and maintenance of our different AI solutions.
• Collaborate in NLP research projects.
• Identification and evaluation of strategic innovations (concepts, tools/languages, technologies, services) in the field of NLP and deep learning.
• Constant personal development in new technologies.
• Support your colleagues in software engineering-related matters.
• Serve as link between the research and the engineering department.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, telecommunication technologies, or similar. Master’s degree in pattern recognition, natural language processing, deep learning, or similar.
• Fluency in English.
• +3 years’ experience in an NLP and deep learning related role. As a researcher or engineer.
• Advanced knowledge of the following technologies: python, tensorflow, pytorch, bash, git, ssh, and linux terminal.
• Knowledge of API and web service development in python; bottleneck detection and resolution (in code, data pipelines, etc); software engineering; development methodologies; and agile methodologies.
• Knowledge of SQL, containers, and container orchestrators.
• Respectfulness; teamwork skills; organizational and planning skills; synthesis and communication skills; creativity; problem solving; autonomy.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• +5 years’ experience in an NLP and deep learning related role as a researcher or engineer.
• Experience with container orchestration and cloud computing.
• Experience developing APIs and web services based on cloud solutions.
• Experience implementing prototype (POC) web-based user interfaces. For instance, using Streamlit or Dash.
• Experience in publishing research material.
• Solid knowledge of containers and container orchestration using tools such as Kubernetes; NVIDIA Triton Inference Server; Microsoft Azure DevOps Services; cloud computing solutions; FastAPI; Swagger; pytorch; SQL.
