Technical Support Engineer (m/f/diverse) - in NYC

We are looking for a Technical Support Engineer (m/f/diverse) for our translation management software to join our international team and on-site together with our two colleagues in our office in NYC-Manhatten.

++ At the beginning of your work at Plunet you will be trained for about 4 weeks in Germany together with and by your technical support team in all systems, applications and daily doings. Although you also have a support colleague in New York City who will be moving to another area of activity in the long run, we want you to be able to build up good contacts and the best knowledge together with your colleagues at all locations (Berlin and Würzburg in Germany)! ++

Job Description:

  • Technical customer support: 1st and 2nd level support via ticket system, telephone, e-mail, and remote sessions
  • User support: 1st and 2nd level support via ticket system, telephone, e-mail, and remote sessions for software usage questions
  • Identifying errors and unexpected behavior in software in order to hand them off to our development and/ or product team
  • Identifying and fixing windows server/ webserver / database / networking issues
  • Supporting prospects and colleagues with test environments
  • Advising and installation of Plunet for new customers
  • Server maintenance and backups for Plunet servers
  • Installation of application with custom developments
  • Integrating our application with other tools like CAT-tools, finance software and others
  • Helping customers with the selection of optimal hosting solutions for their IT infrastructure needs (online or onsite)
  • Supporting customers with application and file server relocation
  • Creation of test systems for prospective customers/sales teams
  • Supporting the implementation and sales team with technical issues
  • Analysis and specification of customer requests for the product management team/software development

Your profile

  • Trained as an IT specialist for system integration (certifications required) or bachelor’s/master’s degree in IT related field
  • In-depth knowledge in the field of hardware and software, specifically with regard to Microsoft operating systems (Microsoft Server, Exchange Server and Desktop, Office, Active Directory, Exchange, Virtualization)
  • In-depth knowledge of databases (MySQL and MS-SQL)
  • In-depth knowledge of web servers (Apache, Tomcat, IIS)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (word, excel, power point)
  • Proficiency in ticket systems (e.g. Kayako) and project management /issue tracking tools (e.g. Jira)
  • Plunet knowledge is desired, but not a requirement
  • You are comfortable as a juncture between development, implementation and sales – this is where you can fully demonstrate your service- and customer-oriented work attitude
  • You are a quick learner who can work independently, are committed and have proved that you can work well under pressure in the Support field
  • You can use your English skills with both colleagues and customers
  • Professional proficiency in English (spoken and written) / German skills would be a nice to have
