The School is investing heavily in digital delivery, building both degree programs and executive education content in blended and online formats. For our EdTech Lab, we are looking for a

Media Designer (full-time, to start in August 2020).

As a Media Designer you will be responsible for:

Responsible for all aspects of media development and delivery for ESMT’s online and blended learning programs and marketing, you will work together with another media designer, and your job will comprise three main areas:

1. Pre-Production

  • Develop media content and storyboards for online and blended programs, working closely with learning designers and content experts (faculty and program directors)
  • Work with content experts to develop scripts and clear narratives before the production process
  • Implement/improve processes in the development of media based resources, including training of content experts for studio and self-production
  • Champion the innovative use of media technologies at ESMT
2. Production
  • Prepare media suite setup for filming (lights, props, equipment, scripts, sound, direction, teleprompter, scheduling, etc.)
  • Shoot scenes to ensure quality footage from a fixed or moving position
  • Organize and maintain a growing media asset library so they can be reused across programs
  • Integrate all content with our learning management systems, video-conferencing and captioning providers
  • Assume overall responsibility for all outputs from the production process
3. Post-production
  • Consult with stakeholders from production to post-production process
  • Review shooting script and raw material to ensure consistency and continuity from scripts/storyboard
  • Create rough and final cuts, adding dialogues, graphics, and effects that follow style guidelines
  • Implement new editing technologies to maximize efficiency across the whole media team
  • Assist in the review and evaluation of the effectiveness of instructional media across the lab’s portfolio
  • Ensure all media assets have timed transcription to adhere to accessibility requirements
  • Meet regularly with learning designers and content experts to report and review the performance of the content, seeking to amend practices to ensure continued improvement

You should have the following experience, knowledge and skills

Essential

  • Significant experience with media pre/post and production, with proven knowledge of timing, motivation and continuity
  • Experience working within a (higher) education institution
  • Experience training content experts in the production of digital media
  • Proven experience as camera operator
  • Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio, including a solid experience with editing software packages (e.g. Premiere, After Effects and Final Cut)
  • Experience structuring and maintaining a digital asset management environment
  • Experience of working on online learning projects and delivering successful outcomes
  • Creative mind and storytelling skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team in the management and successful delivery of projects and to prioritize workloads when working on multiple projects
  • C2 level English (fluency to native standard). German language skills, while an advantage, are not specifically required for this position

Desirable

  • Experience working with academic staff to design, develop and evaluate media resources
  • Coding and media experience (HTML, Scripting, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Educational background, preferably in the fields of film studies, cinematography and/or Education
