We are currently looking for a Project Officer – Controlling (m/f/x) (60-80%) with a focus on procurement and contracting to support our Admin Team in Berlin. The successful candidate will support our project activities at a global level.

 
About TMG Research:

We are a Berlin-based research organisation, with a team in Nairobi, Kenya and research sites in Benin, Burkina Faso, Malawi and South Africa, among others. We work on responsible governance and sustainability issues in land, agricultural and food systems, and address the nexus between sustainable development, climate and energy. We are dedicated to the analysis of new and complex challenges in national, European and international contexts and processes, and identifying novel solutions based on sound knowledge and our strong collaboration with a wide range of actors and communities in various fields and locations. Our research projects are developed, conducted and evaluated jointly with actors from science, politics, the private sector and civil society.

To strengthen our project operations, our Admin Team is currently recruiting a new

Project Officer - Controlling (m/f/x) (60-80%)

Your tasks:

  • Project-related contract drafting and monitoring with project partners, subcontractors, service providers and funders at home and abroad
  • Advising and supporting project partners on financial and administrative project requirements
  • Application of and compliance with the rules and guidelines of the funding organisations
  • Support to the Global Team on procurement matters including German legal guidelines, individual funder rules (particularly German state donors) and EU rules
  • Preparation and review of procurement documentation
  • Financial controlling and administrative support for proposals and projects
  • Preparation of financial documentation including interim and final financial reports for internal and external use
  • Preparation of outgoing invoices and calls for funds in coordination with all parties involved
  • Preparation and coordination of audits and relevant documentation and cooperation with auditors and accountants

Your profile:

  • Bachelor's degree or comparable vocational qualification in business, public administration, procurement or similar
  • Several years of relevant professional experience (min. 2 years) in grant management
  • Excellent knowledge of funding guidelines of donors such as the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), GIZ, EU (H2020)
  • Experience in drafting and reviewing contracts, particularly for partners, service providers and subcontractors
  • Excellent knowledge of acquisition/procurement law (VOL/A)
  • Good knowledge of the Federal Travel Expenses Act (BRKG) would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of accounting programmes (preferably DATEV)
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel)
  • Very good written and spoken German (B2/C1) and English (min. B2), other languages are an asset
  • Willingness to take on other tasks within the team
  • Enjoy teamwork but also able to work independently

Conditions:  

The position will ideally start January 2022, or as soon as possible for a duration of two years, preferable duty station is Berlin. The position is available for 60 or 80%. Our full working week is 39 hours.
