ESMT Berlin is an international business school that offers a full-time MBA, an executive MBA, a master's in management, as well as open enrollment and customized executive education programs. ESMT focuses on three main topics: leadership, innovation, and analytics. Additionally, the business school provides an interdisciplinary platform for discourse between politics, business, and academia. Based in Berlin, Germany, with a branch office in Shanghai, China, ESMT is a private business school with the right to grant PhDs and is accredited by the German state, AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS, and FIBAA.

The development department supports ESMT by expanding and strengthening the school’s network of alumni, partners, and donors. We are currently seeking to fill the position Director of Development and Alumni Relations (m/f/d, full-time).

Your responsibilities

Strategic
  • Development and implementation of an ambitious and sustainable fundraising strategy for the school
  • Development and implementation of innovative fundraising campaigns (online and offline)
  • Development and implementation of a strategy for increasing alumni engagement and giving

Supervisory
  • Overall guidance of the ESMT development department
  • Overall supervision of alumni relations
  • Oversight of the department’s operational activities and budget management
  • Supervision of sponsor and corporate relations, and of strategic events (e.g., Annual Alumni Meeting, Annual Forum, Digital Future Summit)
  • Inspiring a culture of innovation, teamwork, and collaboration
  • Responsibility for a team of currently two full-time and two part-time employees

Representative
  • Reporting to the president as well as to the governing and advisory bodies at ESMT
  • Communication with and stewardship of regular donors, stakeholders and target groups
  • Representing the school with potential donors, stakeholders, and target groups

Your profile

  • 10+ years of extensive fundraising experience, ideally in higher education or in an international workplace
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership position
  • Charismatic interpersonal and high-level communication skills (in German and English)
  • Entrepreneurial approach and proven success in cultivating, soliciting, and closing gifts
  • Talented multitasker
  • Enjoy traveling for work
