For the school’s Educational Technology Lab, we are looking for a

Learning Designer
(m/f, full-time, to start in January, 2019)

Purpose of the job
You will be involved in all stages of the development lifecycle of blended courses at ESMT Berlin from design through to evaluation.

You will be responsible for

  • Coordinating the planning, design, and development of high quality online and blended programs of study with faculty, professional staff and members of the EdTech team
  • Working with academic staff on their content requirements and identifying appropriate and innovative solutions
  • Writing clear and effective storyboards for the development and delivery team to work from
  • Developing learning outcomes and creating content that matches them by applying tested instructional design theories, practice and methods
  • Briefing and supporting of academic staff on the delivery on online modules
  • Collaborating on the guidance, demonstrations and training provided to academic staff on the use of the virtual learning environment (VLE) in teaching, learning and assessment
  • Working collaboratively with academic staff and other relevant colleagues to oversee the efforts of learning technologists, teaching assistants and contractors and coordinating the instructional design effort on projects
  • Reviewing and amending module content post-delivery, to ensure consistency and alignment with our learning design approach and templates
  • Maintaining project documentation and module structures/folders
  • Participating in appropriate university groups and committees concerned with Blended Education/Online Learning
  • Keeping abreast of developments in learning technologies in higher education and beyond in order to improve and enhance learning technologies support provision

You should have the following experience, knowledge and skills

  • Experience in teaching and the ability to provide instructional design services to internal and external subject matter experts and prospective partners/clients to design effective learning programs
  • The ability to successfully work on multiple projects simultaneously and drive these through to completion
  • Ability to review and evaluate modules to ensure they are effective
  • Demonstrable interest and enthusiasm for the use of technology in education
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to influence and lead peers and external partners
  • Native English or equivalent (C2) level is required for this position. German language is not required
  • Evidence of prior experience in online and blended learning design
  • Knowledge of current trends and practices in technology-enhanced learning
  • Knowledge of business studies' subjects
  • Strong level of technical and creative design knowledge
